San Luis Sportsmen's Assoc

I was wondering if any of you have shot trap at this gun club located in the Central Coast region of California near Morro Bay. I may be going there for a weeklong vacation and there's not alot to do there, so I thought I might take the boy's down there to shoot some trap.

Tree Doc I know you're from around there so let me know if you have some information.
Thanks,
Dale

DaleS,
Yes, I lived there!

Actually, My wife and I used to run the IDPA program there with another couple. We have a Rifle/Pistol range that is open as follows:

Thurs: 8-4, 6-9
Fri: 8-4
Sat/Sun: 8-4

The trap range is open:

Tues: 8-12
Thurs: 6-9
Sun: 8-?

We have a skeet tower now that is an overlay on trap house #2. I'm not sure when they're running it though. We were shooting it early evening on Thursday until they needed it when the crowd got thick on Trap house #1. I haven't been in a while so I'm not sure what the skinny is there now.

www.slosa.org for precise info.

Where are you going to be staying? Lot's to spend money on here! Bring some medium action bass spinning tackle (10-12# test) and some Berkley Gulp Bloody Sandworms and Motor Oil-Red flake grubs, the surf perch are abundant and a blast to catch! Virg's in Morro Bay or Patriot in Avila are running rockfish trips and the bite is pretty much a gauranteed limit. Drop me a line and I'll give you more particulars!

Tree Doc,
Thanks for the information.

I will probably be staying in Cayucos at a friends beach house. We used to surf fish all the time out there. I took the boys out fishing at Virg's last year and they had a blast. This time we'll fish and shoot.
thanks,
Dale

Hey, if you're up in Cayucos, fish San Simeon Beach and the others around there. The Big Perch have been going off up in those parts.

When are you coming?

I just pulled this into my front yard on Monday. Lot's going on right now but if the dates worked out, maybe I could get you and the kids on the water!

Nope, it's in my front yard in Arroyo Grande.

I just finished detailing her, she's hooked up, fueled (she had a half tank which I just topped off to the tune of $275 ), and I'm headed out for Morro Bay at 5 a.m. for Sea Trials and then rockfish.

Tree Doc,
That's a great boat. Nothing like spending a small fortune to fill the tanks. Were probably fishing off the surf only this year, but I appreciate the offer. Last year we had a great time with Virg's, but I got sick as a dog. I will try and make it to the trap range that week. If we go it will be the last week in July.
thanks,
Dale
