Thompson Omega Range
I've been shooting this gun for about two years and really enjoy it. Bear and whitetail are no match for two 50 grain Pyrodex pellets pushing a Barnes 320 g bullet, however, now I want to use it on the opening week in Colorado for elk. If I go to three 50 grain pellets, what range could I expect from the gun. 150 yds? 200 yds? I won't consider a shot over 200 yds. with a muzzleloader simply because I don't trust all the variables. (IE. the shooter, wind, weather, etc.) Any help, ideas, or suggestions?

If I were you, I'd stick to the exact same load you are shooting right now and get closer if you have to. Heavy charges don't do much for accuracy most of the time, and the difference in velocity is probably going to be minimal with a 320 grain bullet... meaning probably less than 150 fps.
What you are comfortable shooting is more important than velocity. Your most accurate load you can shoot, is your best choice of loads for any game animal. Good luck on your elk hunt. Aloha...

It will do 200 yards, no problem. Stick with your load, get used to the tradjectory, and you should be fine. I've shot mine substantially farther than that, and it will flatten out XTPs on a steel gong a lot farther away, so energy should be sufficient.

i have know doubts about the gun, just the trajectory. shoot at a couple distances and maybe a fancy rangefinder and all should be well, accuracy well i have smashed a deer and a few ground hogs out passed a buck-fifty. could be a good idea to add the 3rd pellet if it doesnt hurt accuracy

I shoot 3 50 gr pyro (not 777) pellets behind a 250 gr. traditions T-Shock XLR in my TC, makes one ragged hole at 100 yds. Shot a buck last fall at a lazered 208 yds and just absolutely hammered him, saw the white belly flop up through the smoke and he never kicked, still shot completely through him after beaking one shoulder and the spine.

Sighted the gun in at 150 yards. Turns out I didn't need to change a thing. I shot a bull at 40 yards.
