Twofer today

after a bit of work this morning, I drove out to my Son's girlfriend's farm to look around. I brought a borrowed muzzle loader rifle, a little H&R, and some loads.
While walking along the creek that boarders the south side of a big hay field, I spotted an 8 pt buck. I was able to stalk to within about 65 yards, and took my shot. The Sabot round blew out the heart, and exited through the far shoulder, breaking that. He still ran for about 100 yards though.
About 15 min had passed, while I waited to track him. I had reloaded. A darn little 4 pt walked out of the swamp in exactly the same spot. Took aim and brought him down as well. He dropped like a stone.
Had to track the 8 pt back into the swamp, but found him dead, and dragged him out.
The 8pt weighed 160 when we got him field dressed.
My first black powder deer in over 40 years. I gotta do this more often
