Welcome to the HC forum! I arrowed a doe so far this archery season but kinda blew it my making a rookie mistake and not making sure she was being tailed by a buck (which she was & blew up following my shot- a nice 130 class 8 pt) In defense though, this has been a very down year for deer sightings during the day. In the areas that I hunt, the deer have gone nocturnal. This has been confirmed by other hunters in my area. What has also made the hunts challenging is that I have been facing 20-40mph icy winds and below average temps it seems every day that I have been out on stand ( I have moved stands selectively but sit from 1.5 hours before sunrise to a good hour following sunset)
This weekend the archery equipment goes in the closet and the heavy artillery comes out for firearm season! That'll teach those dang deer to stay just outside of my 30 yard bow limit. (They'll probably be just outside my 150 yard sabotted slug window too! I am thankful for my venison in the freezer considering how few deer that I have seen (8) and how fast that they have been moving in the wind. It's all been fun though and that is why we love this, right? |

I have two tags yet and passed on a few does so far. The rut is in full swing so I really need to get out there and get it done before the sub-zero weather hits.
