NY Gun Control Article "Held Hostage"

For what it's worth, from my uncle who lives in Clymer, NY...

Quote from him: "I know this is New York state at present but if these are made into law how long do you think it will take to reach you? If you don't already belong you should join the NRA...now."

And the article from his area newspaper: http://www.post-journal.com/page/con....html?nav=5018

The Dems try to get this kind of stuff through to satisfy a minority of their constituents. I am hoping that this doesn't get passed in New York. We had an ammo stamping bill here in Maryland and it was defeated pretty soundly after the ammo industry and other pro gun people testified at the hearing on the matter.

Personally, I think guns and gun crime is a small issue that is blown into a big political issue by both sides. There are 4 times more auto related deaths in the US than gun related deaths. People get off DUI's like they are nothing, but get caught with a concealed weapon and you are looking at 5 years in New York ala Plaxico Burress.

Duffy,

As a retired federal agent, I would ask the "Banners" WHAT the new bill WILL accomplish? Far too many politicos push nonsense gun control bills to show "They are tough on crime, I would ask the politicos to STOP PLEA BARGAINS and send the bad guys to jail under EXISTING laws.

It's the oldest political con: Find, invent, or magnify some alleged problem, then scare the people into electing you to solve it. The actual presence or absence of a problem is irrelevant. All that matters is getting people to believe the story, no matter how tortured or far-fetched. The only two important things are getting elected and getting re-elected.

Most of us here understand that gun laws just don't work when it comes to reducing crime, or making Citizens safer.

Adam,
i can tell you that most of this crap comes out of 2 places, new york city , and albany .... the rest of the state of ny is so redneck and filled with guns it would scare texans.... guns are BIG in ny to the citizens, theirs only one thing they have more in ny than guns and its deer.... the deer are like flies there...zillions of them...everywhere.... but ..ny citizens take their gun rights very seriously... its just the nutt-jobs in albany and nyc that are whacked on guns.... the problem is that between the two there are as many votes as the rest of the state.... its sad, ny is an incredible place to live in most areas... its very much the real america we all knew as kids and our grandparents knew, very much 1950 ish.... life is very calm, rural small town, america
there.... not like it is most other places.... most people in ny have actually had their jobs for 20 years or more... you dont see that in america today...sad...
NY is in a very bad way these days... the state is bankrupt, it went into recession after the first desert storm, like the rest of the country, but it NEVER got out o it....it only got worse....

and the imbecile liberals in albany have destroyed the state since... raising taxes and driving out all business....

NY is now offically the highest taxed state in the usa....

the property tax in a typical rural area for a 3 bdrm cape home of 50 years in age is
$6500 a year...
in wyoming... its $400 a year..

Do these nitwits honestly believe criminals go to the store to buy guns?
