Stationary Engine Grist mill
The Grapeland Texas (GO SANDIES) Peanut Festival was this last weekend, and like every year (even after graduating from Grapeland High School 16 years ago) I go back. There was a fella there (he has been there several times before) who sells stone ground cornmeal, and grits. He has an old grist mill and stationary engine setup on a lowboy trailer and he packs it around to various festivals, etc selling his cornmeal. The air pop of that old engine as its belt turns the gristmill is like music to my ears, and just like when I was a kid I have a hankering to find out more information and to try to acquire such a rig. The problem is when you start searching for grist mills you find tons of information on big honkin water wheel driven buildings that dont exist anymore, and even MORE information on newage newfad electric hand mills, but almost NOTHING on these old grist mill setups.
Anybody got any good information they are willing to sharet? GoodOlBoy

Extremely similar. There are variations of course, The engine he ran had a sort of pew-pop sound to it and had a much larger wheel on it (I am thinking it mighta been a steam engine dunno for certain) and the grist mill was a little different variation (and red) but YES that is what I am talking about DogYeller.

After watching ALOT of the videos on youtube associated with that one (and chasing the various rabbit trails) I believe the sound the engine makes is because it is probably and old hit and miss stationary engine.
