Enfield SMLE prices

I was in a gun shop on Saturday and was amazed at the prices of SMLE rifles in the rack. They had No. 1 Mark IIIs and No. 4 Mark 1s in NRA fair to good condition. The bores were dark and all were priced at $275.00. I suspect they will sit there for awhile. All the best...

before the gun registration in canada i gave one to a friend in ontario it was a never issue frome india still wrapped in cosmiline.
It was a nice gun after he cleaned it up.

The days of those $13.88 Mk IIIs are LONG GONE! I expect to see prices go even higher. Let's see, they have not made an SMLE for 60 +/- years, so maybe they are getting scarcer.

There are still a lot of SMLE rifles around and the shop I usually visit sells them for a lot less than $275.00. The sporterized ones are really cheap. So it depends. All the best...

Elevated gun prices are a sad fact of post-election life now. If that SMLE or No.4 were in really exceptional condition, numbers matching, very good wood, good rifling unpitted (dark doesn't bother me) - yeah, I could see paying that.
But I would try to talk him down a bit.
