Friendly Insurance Warning
While I have full coverage on all my vehicles, our siblings tend to save a buck with only liability insc. Yesterday, daughter, had a guy do a left turn in front of her......despite the ole mans insistance they have U1 rider (non insured motorist) on thier policys, she did not.You guessed it...his DL was suspended/no insurance. Suit for unspecified damages and legal costs is next option. Dude is in slammer for DWLS/NPI. Meanwile, dad's gotta fix her Pathfinder.
Folks, this rider is about $12 a month and is worth it!!!Your company fixes yours and goes after the other guy . Most companies do not advertise it...you gotta ask. (kinda like collision coverage) Just a FWIW. Dan ![]()

Dan, after paying for her vehicle to be fixed, I'd make her pay you back with a monthly check. Doesn't matter how much, just enough to make her know that dear old dad knows what he is talking about. When she is through paying you off, I'd give her the money back, provided she has learned her lesson. Have been through some of these trials and tribulations.

Dan,
Great "Heads Up!" I always carry Uninsured and Under Insured Motorist coverage on my auto policy. I also decline the Limited Tort and take the Full Tort coverage. It comes to about an extra $100 per year and is worth every penny. Adam

Now, underinsured/uninsured motorist coverage cover personal injury if the other driver is at fault. Let's say that somebody wrecks into me and is at fault. They either have no insurance or the minimum required of 20,000/40,000 worth of liability coverage which is 20,000 per person and 40,000 total per accident. Well, I have uninsured/underinsured coverage that matches by liability coverage of 250,000/500,000. If my personal injury is more than 20,000, I can go after my own insurance policy for the difference between 250,000 and 20,000. Then there is stuff like PIP and Medpay, but that is a discussion for another day.

Uninsured motorist insurance is a smart thing to do. Here in OK about 20 percent of drivers have no insurance.

On 09/17/10, Farmers finally admits a policy covering her vehicle....
has taken darn near a month.....her vehicle was viewed yesterday and total sheet was written. Funny, supervisor that is doing it was one that advised me on how to handle this..LOL....kinda funny it came back to him!Oh yeah, this is her U1 that is covering hers.....they finally admitted she had it! Total, should settle with her on Monday.....statement from Farmers guy was that "70% of stuff we see involves non-insured motorests"...this is almost triple what the state tells ya....Co want's ya to believe that it is only about 25%!!!! Hopefully, next week, we vehicle shop...then, Farmers goes after other guys insc. Dan ![]() From the start, insc co tried to tell her that a U1 was not on it......reviewing policy, it did! Just took raising h**** they sure don't like to pay off!!

Final chapter....at 2pm MT, Farmers issued daughter a check for $3100........ car was a 93 Pathfinder. Amazing what happens when you bypass co (Bristol West) and find out they were bought by Farmers....and go to parent company.....We can replace vehicle for
settlement amount. All has ended well...she's satisfied and the geezer will make a couple of thank you calls Monday. Other driver.....still in slammer 27 days later...Grand Pa won't bail him out! Dan
