.38-40 Winchester and Whitetail Deer
Dear Friends:
What is your opinion about using the .38-40 on whitetail deer? What do you believe the ideal range to be for the cartridge? I have heard some say that it is too light, while others say that if used within a hundred yards that it is definitely good whitetail medicine...not necessarily ideal, but good. Thanks, Cherokee Cowboy

"They" said that about the 44-40 and it darn near wiped out all the game in this country. Use it just keep the shots short.
