America takes a step backwards.....

After watching this video, I am truly disgusted and feel like throwing up right now.

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=kassP7zI0qc

I can't believe that stuff like this still goes on in this day and age. I hope this poor man gets a good attorney and sues the City of Canton, Ohio from the Mayor all the way down the low life "officer" that inflicted this abuse.
This is the stuff I imagine happens in third world countries, not in the state just south of where I live.
To threaten to shoot a man who is in handcuffs? To threaten to 'cave his head in'?

....and to say that he would put ten rounds in the guy and his partner would back him up as it was justifiable?

...and shame on the second 'officer' for not stepping in and taking control of the situation. He is just as culpable and should be fired as well.

Here is the police department's 'mission statement' from the City of Canton's website:

"Our Mission
The mission of the Canton Police Department is to protect the lives and properties of the citizens of Canton, enforce all city, state, and federal laws, prevent crime, and educate the public.

We, the men and women of the Canton Police Department, shall perform these duties with honesty and fairness through strong leadership and continuous training. We will strive to serve as role models for the community, applying professional standards and commitment to integrity, sensitivity and compassion to those we serve."

From what I've seen, they fall a bit short. Seems Nazism and Gestapo tactics are alive and well in America.........still.

There are, unfortunately, police officers who slipped through the cracks of the screening process. It may even be that this is an abberation brought on by too much stress from the job. However, the officer in the video should be out of the job until he has a complete evaluation as to his ability to continue to serve as an officer. If not he sounds like he is ready to crack and someone gets killed who doesn't deserve it. The partner should also be evalulated to see if he knew the seriousness of his partners "over the edge" behavior. He should have pulled his partner aside and advised him of the drivers rights as a human being.

America is taking a step back everything single day; our founding fathers would be disgusted to see what this country has become.

I can unload the link, but see no way to START the video. Is there a secret code?

Apparently this guy worked 4 years as an officer for another department and since 2000, he been investigated 16 times by internal affairs. Also, what in the world is wrong with his partner? I think his partner felt intimidated by his behavior. We will have to see how this all plays out because as of yesterday, their are still 2 charges against the driver!!

What I see is an anti-gun cop who is totally out of control. Not only do I hope he gets fired, but the his "victim" sues the crap out of him, his do nothing partner and the PD.
FWIW, Arizona is another state whee you have to notify the officer if you're armed. permit or no permit as we don't need a permit here.
What does puzzle me is why was the passenger in the back seat and them talking to a known hooker and Her pimp, if that's what they were. I would imagine that would raise up some suspicion to any cop, but not to the level of rage he showed.
Most likely, his police union will keep him from being fired or out of jail thus allowing him to go work for some other PD and threatening some other citizen. He just might end up getting a civilian killed. I got the feeling he wanted to cop someone anyway. I once knew a deputy who stated he wanted to do in a bad guy just for the fun of it. Dunno if he ever got his wish.

This is just typical of 90% of the going on in this country. I predict that within 25 or 30 years if America is still here there will a uprising that will make Egypt look like a church social. Not only are us old farts pissed off but Iam starting to see it in the 30 to 40 year olds voicing strong options. Yes George and Thomas have already rolled over in their graves.

Unhappy

That overbearing 'Officer' needs a career change - say, to stockboy at the local grocery store........
There is NO excuse for this abuse of a citizen's rights. I see a big problem, beginning years ago, when every police department suddenly began receiving equipment and varying levels of training for SWAT teams. Just as with our military and the SpecOps badge, this has become a much sought-after 'enhancement' to one's career in police work. The problem is, it breeds a combative and elitist attitude among many of the officers, and they tend to lose their connection with the citizens they SERVE. SWAT has some use in larger cities, but isn' necessarily needed in the small closet community of West Podunk.
ALL police officers, Sheriff deputies, state troopers, etc need to be given course in dealing peacefully with non-threatening citizens, and be taught the LAWS of ther jurisdictions, especially regarding CCW.

Sort of like Judge Judy, asks you a question like ' tell me why you did that' and cuts you off when you try to speak...I would like this guy to not be an officer anymore. Is just not his kind of job....and one that lets you carry a gun too boot....He should be the one not alowed to carry....loose his permit...am glad though the driver kept his cool through out the deal.
