Kinda slow.....
Things seem kinda slow here on huntchat.....hope that's because everyone is out enjoying either the great outdoors in some fashion or spending time with family.

I`ve been thinking the same thing. If people are all out hunting, I hope it`s not like around here, the hunting is good, but the finding is bad. I here alot of people are hunting a place to hunt. But it is to be expected, with some idiots screwing it up for many, and alot of city folks moveing to the country.

Been Elkie hunting. Was in my hunting area last Thursday. Saw plenty elks..more'n plenty in fact. They were herded up on the bare slope and no way to get within a half mile. 800-900 in one herd. Some smaller herds. But best I could do was about 750 yds according to the Leica....Then a 3 mile hump back as no 4 wheelers up there even real hard on horses..2 steps forward..one back. I honestly think I could make that shot..with no wind...but that just doesn't happen up there..then the snow dropped over the mountain.. Temps went from 40 degrees down to 10 in 20 minutes.. we were huinting at about 8800 ft not enough air for my lungs up there...LOL... 14 below later that night a thousand feet lower at the ranch house. Friend killed her first elk.. at about 20 yds in another area. She was tickled to put it mildly..Told me about it in a blow by blow at the gun show. We're going to hunt 'em in another area later this week..she's pumped and wants another one. Another gal I know got a great mulie. She showed pics at the show too. Sold a bunch of stuff to a fellow from Illinois at the gun show..who missed his at about 200 yds...and to put it mildly..was a bit miffed at his rifle. it was more than 2 ft high..musta bumped the scope or maybe put it in the scabbard wrong. but he was still miffed. Has 3 more days of hunting..then home. I gave him a great deal on an Encore bbl in 280 Rem

Also been thinking the same thing, seems alot of regulars have left. Hope some of the gal posters show back up. Some of us are old and probably won't be here down the road, need an infussion of new blood. Hunting mostly over here for me, getting ready for my annual duck in SW Louisiana.

Nah, I've just been work busy....combined with the fact that I really haven't had anything to say....went elkin a couple of times. Has been too warm at the ponderosa to really hunt...still got about 45 days on my PL tag.

Thanks Dan,
Sadly it will take a miracle and not just prayers to help us out of this mess. Rather than type it all out again this is a post from a UK froum from about the time it happened:- Quote:

I had about $1300 of powders having just re-stocked with a further 7 new tubs. Powder here is about $57 US per 1lb tub. Hence no shooting of hunting for me until we can some resemblance of sense from this. I am not even allowed to inspect my guns which are now in storage at a local shooting club for damage. I got them out of the polices custody as soon as possible as I simply do not trust the Police with them.

I hope ALL US shooters will read and understand that this CAN happen here! We cannot let our guard down, there are those lurking to enact this stuff!
