An old Ithaca has found a new home
I recently picked up a nice older Ithaca 20 Ga. SxS double. This is a Western Arms Branch, Long Range Gun with 28 inch barrels, the left marked "4", and the right marked "2". I think that is the choke designation, but I am not sure.
The bluing is better than 95%, and the color case hardening on the frame is in equal condition. The factory engraving of a Pointer dog is still sharp and clear. The serial number range, 52XXX would indicate that it is fairly old, but I have not tracked it down yet. This is a field grade gun I am sure, as the wood is plain, but well finished. This gun has double triggers, extractors, and a nice splinter forend. I have not gotten it out to shoot yet, but I am going to try to get to the range next Saturday. The price was a reasonable $600, from a dealer in North Central Fla. He had it hanging on the wall in the same section as the Parker and Fox guns! I will try to figure out how to post a picture.
