Pilot dies in plane crash in Lethbridge

One person died Wednesday afternoon when a light plane crashed near the Lethbridge airport.

The small private plane went down as it approached the airport.

The pilot was the only person on board and was pronounced dead at the scene.

The person's name has not been released.

There is no word on what caused the crash but a witness told CFCN there was smoke pouring out of the aircraft as it went down.



Well, tragic, but it is not a local person. I still havent heard any more details, but I phoned my flight school, and it was apparently an American in an Experimental on his way to Calgary after clearing customs in Lethbridge. Scary not knowing if it a friend or somebody you know......I was quite relieved to find out it wasn't one of my friends.

I will post more once I know more.
