Military surplus arms are fine deer rifles.

I began deer hunting in PA in 1958 with a vintage military arm and still hunt deer with such arms. In PA we may not hunt deer with semi-autos, so the Garands, Hakims, Tokarevs and G-43s, etc., are verboten.

I have to pick between a P-17 Enfield, an M38 6.5x55 Swede or a MkIII .303 for opening day. In PA, most deer are shot within 100 yards, so any rifle that shoots to the sights at 100 yards will do just fine, so long as one can find any deer after the PGC deer decimation campaign begun under Gary Alt.

Who else hunts deer with vintage military arms?

Adam
