Cast bullets in military surplus rifles.
I cast bullets for all my military surplus rifles. Cast bullets are great for target shooting and varmit/deer hunting. Many folks talk of the shortage of jacketed bullets for reloading. I suggest they give cast bullets a try.
Today, I shot the Lyman #311467 multi-groove 177 grain gas check bullet ahead of 18 grains of 2400 in my M1898 .30/40 Krag rifle. To my surprise, the cast loads shoot to point of aim with the battle sight at 100 yards. That is the same point of aim/point of impact with 150 grain jacketed bullets. I loaded up three boxes of that cast load and will go seek chucks tomorrow with the Krag. Adam
