T/C Encore Repairs
I've been shooting a T/C Encore for years. First, the 50 cal muzzle loader then a .270. It is the good ol' walnut version and I've always liked its looks. However, I have had the rear stock crack behind the hammer twice. Both times T/C replaced it for free. This year I fell on the rifle, slipped on a snow covered log and came down shoulder first on top of it. It cracked and took out a chunk of wood to the rear and right of the hammer. When I sent it in for repair they offered me dealer rates for the rear stock (more than fair - it's not under warranty for abuse and I understand that). So this time I went with a composite stock which I hope will never break. Thompson Center is a top notch company and have been very good to me over the years, but IMHO the Encore wood above the pistol grip neck is just too thin for the walnut design.
