Happiness is a .22 caliber pistol.

This has been our wettest Spring in 50 years; the gardens are not yet tilled and the lawn cannot be mowed. Yesterday, it was a very rare sunny day and 66 degrees. Old dawg and I got out the Ruger Mark I and Mark II .22 pistols and trekked to the backyard bench.

We spent an hour or two testing various brands of .22 ammo in both pistols at 25 yards. It really was a fun day at the bench. Semi-auto .22 pistols are verboten for hunting in PA. I have a couple SA revolvers used for pidgeon shooting in the barn that could be used legally for small game hunting. I need to locate a nice Old S&W DA .22 revolver to complete the collection.

I always start my handgun training students out on .22 handguns. The SAs are fine for novices and then we transition to the Rugers. I was surprised to see the current prices for a 500-round "brick" of .22 Long Rifle ammo. A .22 handgun is always fun to shoot in my opinion.
