Help! Dominate eye changes!!
Help!!! I've just figured out why I've been shooting so radical! Shooting good groups then all of a sudden I'll shoot 4' to the left!! Some back ground)
1)I've been fighting wearing my glasses the last few years. I used to just not wear them but I realize now that I can't go with out. 2) Last year I'd be practicing and shooting ok when all of a sudden I couldn't see through the peep. I even had someone remove my glasses while I was at full draw and VOLA! the site picture returned. It didn't happen all the time. 3). I had a new string put on this year and didn't have the peep installed. I've been shooting close shots to shoot enough arrows to stretch the string before fine tuning. It was while doing this that I put 5 arrows in a nice group and then the next one was 4' to the left! I continued shooting and grouped all to the left. I swear my site picture looked the same and my aim point was the same. That was when I experimended closing one eye then the other. It's obvious my dominate eye was switching. Every test I ever took was consistant right eye dominate. So I've been experimenting closing my left eye while shooting. Well without the peep in and anchoring the string on the tip of my nose the string is in the way for a good site picture. I've changed to anchoring to the side of my nose and that works a little better then tonight after a few shots I lost the site picture like in #2-- I'm freaking!! Deer and Elk seasons are on now in Oregon and I leave for a hunt in Idaho the 15th. and I don't feel confortable shooting at hay bales!! I'm considering trying to shoot left eye dominate. when I close my rt eye it seems alot less obstructed. I looked at my sight and it won't adjust out that far. What about "no peep"? I just scanned a thread about them. Help I'm freaking!! Jim |
