Savage/Stevens model 887 .22 cal

I'm looking for any info I can get. savage shooters and rimfire central have been little help. Maybe if I become a member at savage shooters I'll get better response, does anyone think that will help?. Basically loking for some good history, value, and parts suppliers. It does not fire and it doesn't chamber the shell correctly. The firing pin seems to be hitting the rim, as it leaves a mark. Doesn't fire though. Probable need to address that in the gunsmith forum.
