A great day of casting yesterday...

It was 70 degrees, sunny and there was a slight breeze yesterday. I set up my old Coleman stove on the picnic table in the shade of the big pine tree in the front yard and casted until 18 pounds of lead were used up. I made .45 roundball, .50 Maxis, .54 Maxis and .58 Minies.

A few neighbors passed by and three stopped at different times to watch the work-in-progress. All were local farmers and hunters, but none ever casted a bullet in their lives. I had a spare pair of eye goggles, heavy gloves and input akin to Tom Sawyer painting the fence. Three neighbors now know how easy it is to cast perfect projectiles. We need to pass along our Long Hunter smarts at every opportunity. I have enough projectiles made up to carry me over Winter.

Best of luck to all Long Hunters everywhere this season.

Adam
