Welcome aboard deerhunter06.Dom hit it right on the head.I could'nt agree more,both the 270 or the 30-06 would be exellent
choises.Both are also good calibers if you ever get the invited on an elk hunt or for black bear. Being a new hunter,you should find this forum very usefull. Good luck on finding the right gun for yourself. Happy hunting this fall. Ken
