Meeting the troops

I'm not a veteran, my father was a WW II Vet and my brother was a Korean War Vet. I thought I would share a incident that sure makes you proud of the men and women in our sevice as well as what it means to their families.

Last week, a elderly couple came into our establishment shopping for furniture. They made their selection and asked about delivery. We don't have a service that goes out to the small farm community which they reside in out on the eastern Colorado plains. He said that he'd be by the next day to pickup the purchase and I inquired as to if he was going to go out and chase some doves on the opening of season. No. he'd stopped hunting a whille back and he regailed me with a couple of brief stories and then went on his way.

The folks showed up the following day with two strapping young fellows and as the gentleman approached me I commented that "He sure didn't have any trouble finding good help!" The man stopped in front of me grabbed the arm of one of the men and pulled him forward and said " this is my grandson" then he pulled the other man forward and said " this is my adopted grandson, they have just done two tours of duty in Iraq."
The young men stood tall as I shook their hands, thanked them for the service they had completed.

The pride in the grandfathers' eyes is something which will be with me for a long, long time.

Thanks to all the vets and their families out there!
