Shooting cast bullets in military rifles.

A local club holds occasional military rifle cast bullet matches. The course of fire is 20 rounds at 50 and 100 yards; offhand and from the bench. There are many impressive groups fired from an assortment of military arms.

I cast lots of rifle bullets out of wheelweights. Most bullets take a gas check and are great for fun shooting. Some guys hereabouts hunt deer with their cast loads. I shoot cast bullets in the 8mms, 7.65s, 7.62s, .303, .30-06s, 7.5s, 7mms and 6.5s.

Cast bullets develop less recoil than jacketed loads and are fine for new shooters to get acquainted with rifle shooting. Who else uses cast bullets in military arms?
