over a period of time, if not maintained, break-barrels ,may develop 'droop' from the tension of the latching device, too.
beeman used to offer the service of installing a scope while figuring in the 'droop' factor. i've had good luck with the break-barrel style springers, so far... some day, maybe i'll pick up a good PCP...
