Rethinking handloads?

Well, stopped at the local Gander Mountain the other day to pick up some fishing tackle....while there, I took a stroll over to the ammo section.

Holy Crap! $60for a box of 9mm Remington factory loads....115 grain HP (NOT Golden sabers!). Nothing special or fancy. Found a box of 130 grain FMJ .38 Super (Federal) $40/box of 50!

Thanks to all the hoarders/speculators out there.....I wonder how the hell some of you can sleep at night.

At any rate, I can't afford to shoot at those prices.....I have a kid heading off for college in the fall. I have always maintained that one should practice with the load that one carries, but at those prices it is inconceivable, at least for me. Therefore, when my supply of factory ammo dries up, I will be carrying my handloads for self defense. Damn the 'experts'.......I'll do what I have to do to survive, both fiscally and physically.
...anybody else out there in the same boat?
