I was visiting a new gun shop today and spending time looking over the used gun racks. I spotted two M1 Garands and asked to look at them. The first M1 was in NRA fair condition and showed hard use or abuse and did not interest me. The second M1 was in mint condition in and out with a lovely walnut stock with all the cartouches intact. The hang tag said a manual went with the rifle. The manual was the G.I training handbook for the M1 Garand that the CMP sent with the rifle. This is a CMP collector grade rifle.
The gun shop gives customers 15 percent discounts on used guns if you have a coupon. I did not have one, so the clerk got one for me. We did the paperwork and the rifle came home with me. The rifle is in the five million serial number range and Old Guns website at
www.oldguns.net says the rifler was made in 1955. What a find and what a bargain price! All the best...
