Tulsa

Tulsa was last weekend and several things were as expected, some things were not expected.

First off Tulsa Wally world got in 1,000 round bulk boxes of 22 LR Ammo and a guy stopped by my table and was telling me about him just coming from there and the $40 some odd price per box he paid for 9,000 rounds. In about 30 minutes the boxes showed up in push carts for $80 by the grafters and chiselers. So there is a hoarder and a scalper in one deal.

A powder guy showed up with a lot of powder, and I do mean a lot. The line to get to the cash register was very, very long just to get to the cash register, to see if they still had your powder. Powder was on shelves behind the tables.

Model 1 Sales did what I expected, showed up with standard priced uppers and other stuff just for the show, so on Friday morning, greeting them at the door, I bought one of the three 6.8 uppers and a 300 AA upper. They were committed to the show, prepaid tables and had to have something to sell. They brought just 3, 6.8 SPC uppers.

The guild is off the lilly as cheaper lowers were around $250, down from $500 plus.Cheap uppers were around $700-750. Looks like the buyers at the top of the insanity will be like 10 years ago, stuck with 3x the price later.

There were a lot of nice guns for sale that were outside of the buying craze. I bought a real nice Browning 20ga Ultra XS 30 inch LH gun, in a case for the son. I also found a nice set of 20ga Citori 28 inch ported barrels and bought a #1 Ruger. My selling a same chambered 700 BDL for the exact same money as the #1 got that into trade status, in my mind. I will trade a #1 for a factory 700 any day of the week.

Like most Tulsa shows, it was a whirlwind of driving, 3 show days, restaurants, restless nights and more driving. Glad to go and glad to get home.
