Went to a gun show today.. For a short while.
Went to a gun show in Bozeman Mt. Just got out of the hospital yesterday so wasn't up to snuff.. But... I did get a few things and make a few observations. I was really kind of surprise at the low turnout. I must admit it was a beautiful day. We haven't had much of that in this area lately. It got above freezing by 0800. The copious amounts of snow are disappearing finally. Although we live in Wy/Mt we don't get the snow at lower elevations like all think we get. Mountain snow is tremendous this year. Where I hunt it is at 15 ft. Anyway..gun show. There were not the numbers of people..the wares were much more sparse than they have been lately. Not only didn't I buy a bullet mould..I didn't even see ONE for sale. Got many die sets mostly my favs..ie...Reddings. Most for very fair prices. Bought a like new in the box Ruger Single Six with both cylinders for under 300 bucks. Not a great price but a fair one. Got an older(1922) Smith Hand Ejector in 32-20. Don't ask...I don't know why. Bought some primers from a vendor friend..prices were very reasonable..28 bucks per M.. Powder was not in great supply...but did get a pound of IMR 4064. Bought a Swift not long ago and that powder is the cat's Meow in the Swift. Price was fair at 25. Also got a few pounds of other powders mainly for handgun shooting that I hadn't seen for a while..and got 'em cheap. One of my friends that does some loading for others glommed onto some for his reloading..Gotta share ever now and again.. Found lots of littles that I like to find. Found a complete case forming die set for 243 in a junk box for 5 bucks..and a complete primer pocket swager that was made many years ago for the RCBS A press. It was unique to them and the guy didn't know what it was. Luckily I did and got the darn thing for a ridiculous price.. That thing cost 22 dollars in 1958. One of the better buys was a few OLDER loading manuals with data for older powders I have. Gonna crank up the 650 Dillon in 45 Colt now 44 Special too. Use some of that powder up. All in all had a good if abbreviated time. Powders are still hard to find as is ammo in many calibers. Sales of rifles is very slow and handguns are not much better. Powder supplies are so low one of the better cast bullet companies out here told me their sales are down..mainly because the standby powders for much handgun shooting is not available. Nother show coming up next week...but I am gonna be doing this one..not just attending
