Gun shop visit

I visited a favorite large gun shop to look around and get shotgun shells for a pheasant hunt. The used gun racks were sparse even though the shop took in 263 used guns this year to date. Prices on new guns were high with very little wiggle room for negotiations because they are seeing a lot of backorders. Used guns were a different story despite higher prices, they were willing to deal. Used muzzleloaders were up in cost, but there was room to work on prices.

There were lots of primers of all sizes and brands and prices were back to about where they were before the shortage began. Powders selection was limited and prices were a bit higher than before. Centerfire ammo was readily available and more costly than I remember. There was a great assortment of shotgun ammo and prices were about what they used to be. I was able to get five boxes of high brass #5 shot. The real sticker shock was .22 l.r. ammo at $17.99 per 100 rounds of CCI long rifle cartridges. Remington .22 l.r. was $5.95 per box of 50. The staff apologized for the limited choices and the costs. They were selling Federal or Winchester 333 round bulk packs for $17.95, but they are on backorder with no delivery date.
All the best...
Gil
