257 Roberts & 100 gr. Triple Shock

Every now and then things work out better then expected.

I have a BLR#81 in 257 Roberts that has always shot most loads around 2 1/2" @ 100 yds. with most loads/bullets including Nosler B.T & Sierra Boat Tails etc.

I have been working with the 100 gr. Barnes TSX bullet that has shown great promise with H-4350 & RL#19 with Win. L/R Primers & Rem. cases.

Last loads tested= 46.0 gr of H-4350 shot 3 shots to 1/2" @ 100yds. & 48.0 gr. RL#19 shot 3 shots to 3/4" @ 100 Yds.

Both of these loads are near max in my rifle, use care.

I plan to use the H-4350 load for Deer in Wyo. this fall.

You'll be confident and proud with either load, bud. Make sure the freezer has room in it!

Welcome aboard oldpete!
I see no use for the higher priced bullets in this round, unless your getting better accuracy and it looks like you are. Sounds like you done hit the jackpot!

Barnes Triple Shock

It's interesting to note that in four out of five rifles I have tryed Barnes bullets, I have had my most accurate load with the Barnes.

These includes the 225 gr X in a Win.94 carbine, 150 TSX in my WIN.88-.308, Win.94 30-30AI 150 Barnes X, and the .257 Roberts 100 GR TSX.

The one i'm still working with is the 85 gr.TSX in my Ruger 1-A and this one is getting close.

Best load to date with the .243 is the 100 gr. BT Speer & 38 gr XMR 4350 that will run 1" at 100yds. for 5 shots ( if I take my time).

The one thing that has helped my load development the most is a 2.8X10 Simons Aetec, vary clear and brite scope for the money.
