Normally, people that are temporarily insane have a reason for the temporary insanity. The fact that he is saying that so soon after the shooting means that he has already thought about it. Being able to think about it kind of goes against the temporary insanity defense.

I would love to know what this guy's motive was other than sheer stupidity.

LEO's have a tough life and people like me criticize them a lot, but things like this should never happen. While I scrutinize LEO's actions under a microscope because they have the power to take life and there are very broad laws to prevent them from being held accountable for it, I think LEO's should always have back up on traffic stops and they should approach the driver with their hand on the gun and ready for action. Protecting everybody's civil rights and LEO's is tough but we have to do something about this in today's society.

Of course, protecting LEO's and requiring backup on traffic stops means that we would have to pay more taxes and nobody wants that.
