I don't know about hog huntin, but I just searched far and wide for a .44 mag bullet for bears. The guides, and gun shelf experts all recommend a soft point or cast core, (most recommend the soft point over the cast core but cast core over hollow point.) I found a sweet round the shoots great, Speer Gold Dot 270 grain Soft Point. The soft points perform better than hollow points when penatration is needed. This should apply for hog huntin too. I also looked at and liked the Sellier and Bellot 240 grain soft point and the Federal 300 grain cast core. Good luck.
