Thumbs up Pictures of my6.5/06 with newly finished stock

Well here it is guys!, After a lot of sanding, inletting and spraying ,and sanding and spraying, and sanding some more .I finally finished it. This is my ER Shaw barreled Ruger Model 77 R in 6.5-06 in a Boyds Laminated Ross Thumbhole Stock. Bought it unfinished (the only way they sell them for my old model tang safety Ruger) It was my first crack at finishing one from the ground up . It didnt turn out too bad for my first time. I am happy with it! Roy The Pics will be in the next post

I have yet to see a rifle that was not improved by bedding the action, so, do not wait next time..... inlet, then bed, then start to finish, in that order. Figure bedding as just one more step.

By the by, try the Sierra 100 and 85s in that 6.5x06. I think you will like what you see... The Hornady Interlock 140 is also a performer.

Could I be enlightened on what a 6.5-06 is? I can only figure 25-06, but 6.5mm is larger than .25"

Smile What a 6.5-06 is

Rem 700, A 6.5-06 is a 30.-06 necked down to a 6.5 caliber. it is a wildcat and shoots very flat!

Wink

Yep, laminated stocks have a nice grain to 'em, particularly since the plywood all comes from the same plant. hehehe

Sorry. Seriously, it is a very fine looking rifle. I'm usually not a fan of the looks of a thumbhole, but that one is georgeous! Nice work.

BTW, it is hard to beat the Nosler 100 and 120 Ballistic Tips in 6.5 rifles. IME they shoot better than the Sierra hunting bullets, but not quite as good as the 107 or 120 MKs.
