I've personally never been convinced that whitetail deer are "smart". I think they have amazing senses and reflexes, but they do some dumb things. Sometimes they are so skittish you can't get near them, other times they will almost feed out of your hand.

I've only killed two deer with a bow, and I don't think either one of them was the genius in their class.

But like I saw somewhere, until deer learn to read, talk, and write, the hunting stories will favor the hunter. I wonder what some of the deer think of us at times.
