Have any of you made your thoughts known to your congressmen? This is the response I got back from mine (a Dem with a "B" [I think] rating from the NRA - used to be "A" but toed the party line a few times).

Thank you for your _expression of opposition to the Assault Weapons Ban and Law Enforcement Protection Act (H.R. 1022). I appreciate hearing from you concerning this important issue.

H.R. 1022 would reinstate for 10 years the assault weapons ban which expired on September 13, 2004. This legislation is currently awaiting consideration in the House Committee on the Judiciary.

I am following this issue closely and will keep your views in mind as debate over Second Amendment rights continues.

I don't really know what he'll actually do, but at least he acknowledged this is really a 2nd Amendment issue (as opposed to a 'black gun' issue). If enough gun owners actually get in touch with their reps (whethey they are rabid antis or not) they will know that the gun owners of America have gotten a wake up call. Now is not the time for an elitist attitude among gun owners. The antis want to ban ALL GUNS.
