SAAMI Spec COL question

I'm working on my 200gr Accubond loads for my -06 and have a question about the SAAMI spec COL.

When I load my bullets and seat them .015 off, my COL is longer than the prescribed SAAMI COL in my Nosler #5 manual. It fits into my detachable magazine fine and feeds fine with no binding or me having to force the bolt forward.

I don't think it matters if it exceeds the SAAMI COL in "this" rifle but am just trying to get some more clarification before I go and shoot.

Thanks in advance.

When you load for a specific rifle it is common to play with the COL to get the bullet to touch or just off the rifling. Paint the bullet with a Sharpie marker pen and chamber it then eject it. See if you have any marks on the bullet. If no marks your OK, If slight marks it’s perfect, If heavy cuts - Warning! Warning! Will Robinson. When I dial up the bullets for my savage 30-06 the COL is 3.3 for a perfect fit. A perfect fit in the Remington is 3.4. with MatchKings

SAAMI gives a COL max that is designed to fit the magazine of any factory rifle chambered for the cartridge . The COL that reaches the lands may or may not be the same. If you load to a COL longer then the SAAMI max you possibly won`t fit it in the magazine of your rifle. A short action cartridge such as the 308 in a rifle with a std action will likely still fit the mag and work fine. A 30-06 loaded long in the same std action may not fit.

I used a COL guage and a dummy -06 shell and the bullet I'm loading. It fits into the magazine (detachable), clears the lands, but is longer than the SAAMI Specs.

I didn't figure it mattered as long as it fits into the magazine and isn't up against the lands. I just wanted to get another opinion.

Thanks.
