Go Back Farther than Pope
1770's To the Ferguson rifle. Breechloading rifle. Flinter so I am sure the powers that be would let us use them in the primitive seasons. And Pope's rifles were true breechloading rifles. They were metallic cartridge rifles. The powder etc was loaded in the breech. They just loaded the bullet down the bbl to get better accuracy. This is no different than some of the caplock arms that I have seen..other than the fact the guy used a 223 case with primer to set her off. As I said..I don't need one but just cause we don't like the way it looks...don't mean it ain't a muzzleloader. Don't be a Zumbo.
