A Unique 1917 Eddystone

The local gun shop has a mint 1917 Eddystone complete with a set of G.I dog tags. The interesting thing is a removable parkerized metal plate atop the follower that may have been to facilitate single loading cartridges. It has a complete set of cartouches in the stock and may have been reworked during WWII. They want a lot for the rifle and I have several in my collection so I passed on it. All the best...

Gil,

Were they WWI or WWII dog tags?

Don't know

I never saw the dog tags. When I returned to the gun shop the rifle had been sold. The dog tags went with it. All the best...
