dropping antlers at the end of April??

A couple weeks ago i saw a little buck with one side of his rack. I see bucks every year that always amaze me that they still have their rack on or one side still on much later then you'd think. I've tried to figure it out to a science, but just can't seem to do it. I've found shed antlers that were fresh around new years and find fresh ones first part of April in the same area. Too many variables as far as I see it, age, nutrients of their food, weather, health of the deer........could be about any dog gone thing.
