I hesitated at the wrong time!

Last Thursday I went to my local gun shop for the weekly "Tioga Militia" meeting of the over age 60 guys. We number about a dozen duffers and someone always brings an old, interesting gun for "show and tell." I took my .38 S&W caliber Second Model "Baby Russian" and passed it around the gang around the coffee pot and box of donuts at the back of the shop.

On the way out of the shop, I saw and handled a Very Good+ Russian Model 38 Short Rifle with a $200 hang tag. I went back today to haggle a bit and bring the M38 home-it was gone. I feel a sense of loss.

I saw the M38 last Thursday. Next day the Gas Company's BIG gas lease check was in my mailbox. I went to the bank and made a deposit and saw my accountant to settle my tax business for the feds and state.

Any other collectable arms I see are coming home with me that same day. Who else "Let one get away" and later regretted it? That cuts both ways and I suspect some sold or traded arms they wish they had kept. I have never parted with any arm on establishment, so I am, perhaps, half right in this collecting equation.

I hate it when that happens

I learned long ago that if you are interested in a decent surplus arm, grab it, put it on lay-away or do something. If you snooze, you loose. All the best...
