time travel
i have a Bear Kodiak hunter, a made in Grayling one, it's rated 45X i purchased from Rube Powell in the early 1980's and I'm continually amazed at how well the bow performs; remember, it doesn't take mega-poundage to put a broadhead thru an animal.
it's stable, easy to handle, feels good in the hand, points easily, light in hand and is accurate as well as graceful and attractive. i use B-50 Flemish strings of my own manufacture on it and have since i got it. this bow is NOT a speed demon, rather a good ole "bread 'n' butter" platform that will deliver as promised. the biggest changes I've made in my archery/bowhunting in the last twenty, or so, years has been to switch to carbon arrows and use a mechanical release aid. oh, I've owned and used the compounds, too, and i did shoot a compound, a Hoyt Finalist II, in the NFAA nationals at Darrington Washington in 1985, but it seems to me that there is more pleasure and satisfaction to be had from the good ole recurve and longbow than from the compound. i guess that's why i have only one, operational, compound bow now...i found what i like best.
