Decisions, Decisions?

Today is Thursday and we have tomorrow and Saturday for the PA Muzzleloader Antlerless deer season.

It rained most of today, but Friday and Saturday should be typical Autumn days. I could use a flinter or caplock Friday and Saturday. The old folks can also shoot does today, Friday and Saturday with modern rifles as can Juniors and Active Duty Military for antlerless deer.

Wait a minute! When will the poor PA Antlerless deer in PA have ENOUGH PRESSURE? My trail cameras do show a few antlerless deer, but I cannot bring myself to shoot a doe and kill 2 or 3 deer from our diminished deer herd.

I will go afield to protect the resident antlerless deer in my farm's core area from tresspassers. Been there and done that in the past. One day, when we have a healthy PA deer herd again, the flinters will come on line.

Adam

that's too bad.. here we have the opposite problem (well did in some zones). Our mule deer & in some locations whitetail numbers were waaaay too high, just about to the carrying capacity of the land, to the point some areas were showing CWD (still not sure if it is related to captive deer or not, as some cases are in the wild where no cases in captive deer or elk have been seen)

Anyway, for several years now in my zone I have been able to take 2 does on draw (mule deer) this year is earn a buck with 2 does can earn you a buck tag.

Whitetail deer we can take one of each in my zone (I would have to double check that). Last year it was 4 we could take! More meat than I need, so I usually only tag a doe or 2, and save my whitetail tag for a big boy, which of course I never seem to find.. lol
