Anyone have an M&P 15/22

Just wondering does anyone on the boards have a S & W M&P 15/22? If so how well does it really shoot and what have you done to trick it out?

I understand it is a family answer to every member's 22 rifle in the family and the Magpul version is very, very similar to the military rifle and can be used by a GI for practice. As a matter of fact, the M&P 15/22 is being sold by the local military and police dealer here bouts on the discount plan offered to M&P members.

I have one, had it about a year, I was pleasantly surprized how accurate it is. Just put a red dot on it and haven't tried it, too darn cold now. Have 3 mags for it and surprized how fast my grandson can go through them, he groans when I make him reload them. There are the ultimate plinke and a great companion piece for my AR.

Your experiance with accuracy matches what I was told by the guys in the shop. Which is a nice confirmation. Looking at the 15/22 it is hard to believe it is in fact, very accurate. As you said, suprisingly accurate.

I was going to do up a 10/22 for my son, in the militarty style, stock, etc., with a polymer stock and barrel. However upon examination of the numbers it appeared that the 15/22 was about the same price if not a bit cheaper by the time all the dust settled.

That sounds like a new road to travel as an option for the black gun owners who want a companion gun to their AR. Plus it can be configured to fit every member of a family by changing the position of the butt, on the slide.
Thanks,
Ed

Ed, don't know if I'll get to shoot it til spring. Suppose to get up to a foot of snow by tomorrow morning, already had a couple of inches. And then to add insult to injury Mon. and Tues. the highs are suppose to be in the single digits and winter is even here yet. Thankfully I'm going on my annual duck hunt in SW Louisiana, leaving the day after Christmas.

Perhaps by Christmas it will warm up a bit here, but it is supposed to be in the 20s tonight and tomorrow night with colder temps to our west in MS and LA. Up at the farm, the woodies have mooved into the beaver "ponds" on the creek (about 6 dams) but it is very thick and only two guys I know shoot on the "ponds" at all. It is like shooting in a bramble thicket.
Best of luck on your trip to LA.

Ten ins. of fresh snow and still snowing, winds 20-30 mph. from the north. Temp 18 and dropping, high tomorrow 8 above. Sure will be glad when winter gets here.

Should have brought it with me s I'm in sw Louisiana duck hunting. Temp in the 70s and the skeeters so thick it obscures the ducks, on top of that 3+"s of rain last night and more comeing. May be between rain storms i could have got it sighted in.

Thought I would finish this post out with the end result.

The grandson got his M&P 15/22 for Christmas in the Mag Pul configuration. He loves it and the son has now created a monster, as it requires serious amounts of ammo to take the boy and a buddy or two out for even a minor shoot. The gun is accurate and fun to shoot.

So good report on another M&P 15/22.
