Was sitting out in the backyard this morning and happen to spy a tree rat giving me the eye. I just happen to have one of my air rifles with me as I often do. I have had this rifle for just over six months now. Although I like this rifle very much it is just a little to loud for city shooting, normally, as i live in a quiet area. I generally tend to favor one of the nitro pistons that I have for this short of situation. However, it has been along dry spell as I have not been albe to spend the quality time thinning out the local vermin. So I raised the Storm and broke the barrel and incerted a Crosman Premier Domed Pellet in to the chamber and returned the barrel to battery. Raised the rifle to my shoulder and centered the little rats head in the crosshairs now figuring that he was setting at between 35 and 40 yards I slowly applied pressure to the trigger. When it broke the rat fell. This has been my experiance with the partiular rifle. I just wish it was a little quieter. It has plenty of power for squirrels out to 50 years. It is deadly accurate with several brands of pellets and the simple 4x scope that tops it is just fine for removing vermin.

The Storm Scores again on 2 more tree rats, first one was 28 yards a Crosman Domed pellet to the left eye did the job. Next was a longer shot the little bugger was running down the phone line he had made it a measured 48 yards and was quarting away the pellet stuck him right behind the right front leg. The squirrel hunched up took another step and fell dead to the ground.

Another report on the Storm was sitting out in the back yard this morning and looked up on the power line (actually it is the phoneline) that runs in back of the house and a tree rat was making his way towards me. I quickly reached over and pickup the Storm cocked it and placed a Crosman domed Pellet in the chamber. I let the squirrel get to within 25 yards of where I was sitting and raised the air-rifle to my shoulder. Upon doing so the squirrel stopped and looked right at me. The crosshairs were centered right between his eyes. I took up the slack in the trigger and at the brake the phone line running treerat was out for the count. I walked over to retrive him and found that the pellet had struck him right where the crosshairs were sitting. This is an impressive well made Chinese Pellet Rifle that Crosman has placed it's name on. I do not know how fast the pellets are traveling, but I would assume them to be moving somewhere between 950 and 980 fps. I'll have to pull out the chronograph and see what they are actually doing some day. I do like this rifle, it is accurate and powerful enough for most small vermin like starline and sparrows on up to squirrels out to 40 yards. However, it is on the moderately loud side so if you plan on doing your shooting in the city find another air rifle or you'll be doing some explaining to your neighbors and maybe even the local law enforcement.

Seems like we have had a bumper crop of Starlings this spring. I have been doing my best to reduce the numbers using a Crosman storm. It has been very effective using both the Destroyer pellet and the Crosman pointed pellets. Longest shot so far has been just over 40 yards with a Destroyer to the breast of one of those little black pests. I've shot so many I have lost count it has been a great distraction from the boobtube. Looks like it is going to be a nice sunny day so I may go out and try it on some local ground squirrels. I'll let you know how it works on them later.

Well I never made out of the yard this morning just too many opertunities in the back yard shot 4 starlings and a tree rat. The tree rat was shot at 32 yards with a Crosman Storm using Crosman Destroyer pellets in .177 cal. the pellet preformed perfectly. Expantion was good penitration was good. The shot was right behind the front leg took out one rib on entry. This is the squirrel that was hit with the Crosman Destroyer pellet. Muzzel velocity was ~980fps.

Yesterday I was out back and had both the Crosman Storm in .177 and the Titan in .22. I took the first tree-rat with the Titan one shot one kill which is the norm with this air rifle. A little later a few starlings showed up and the Storm preformed beautifuly three shots three dead. Had barely put the rifle down when Mr. Tree-rat comes down the phone line looking for a way in to the garage the storm got the call and sent a crosman domed pellet to the head of the little vermin, it was lights out. I went back to reading a hunting rag and finished a few articles and looked up, not one but two of the dreaded tree-rats were headed for the garage on the phone line well I was not having any of that, so I settled the little 2x7 Bushnell on the head of the lead rat and sent the crosman domed pellet his way he fell stone cold dead to the ground, but no time to celebrate, I cracked open the barrel and stuffed in another domed pellet the rat had turned and was moving away, as I settled the croshairs on his head he moved behind some leaves and small branches. I hesitated for a second, repositionded for a shoulder shot applied the presure to the trigger and at the impact the squirrel jumped a good 6 feet, but did not reach the tree he was trying for instead he was taking a permanent dirt nap. I went over and retrived my prizes and looked at the shoulder shot rat. Upon investigation I found that the pelled had broken the front leg taken out a rib, the left lung, heart and lodged in the right lung. Not bad for a cheap air gun.
