Pheasant hunt
My friends and I go on two pheasant hunts a year. One is a fall hunt in November and a late winter hunt in March. Next week is the scheduled hunt and I am taking my neighbor who has not been on a pheasant hunt in the last thirty years. Should be a great time. We hunt a regulated shooting facility and pay per bird. It is the better than the good old days and a the only real bird hunting we can get today. All the best...

Where's this at? Surely not in PA? I thought the game farms had to stick to the seasons established by PAGC? Heck thought my season was over but if I can get a few more in ( even if a guy had to pay for it) heck... My lil girl turns 2 tomorrow.

The place I prefer is 6 miles east of Altoona. I am not making a commercial endorsement, but can say I have been going there since 1985. They are open from September 1st through April 15th. The warmer weather is hard on the dogs so we try for cooler days afield. Always had a great time. Yes, that is my dog, Amy, in the cameo. Hope this helps. All the best...

It depends
There were four of us. One fellow had not been pheasant hunting for over thirty years. He quickly got the hang of it and did well. The other guys are old veterans. We still managed to shoot off about ten boxes of shells. At this place, you are billed for killable birds. So if the bird flushes within range and you miss, you still bought the bird. It sounded like flak guns opening up. All the best...

Gil,
SO 250 rounds were expended (10 boxes) to bag 38 birds? A Ratio of 1 bird per 6.57 rounds expended? Do the birds wear Kevlar Body Armor? LOL! Adam

Fortunately, we did not run out of shells or birds. You had to be there to experience the situation. All the best...

I've only shot pen birds once. Had fun but they were kinda down sized from
wild birds. How big were these critters? Dan

These were full-sized birds and the owner of the pheasant farm raises 20,000 birds a year. He puts them out prior to any hunts so the birds act like native wild stock. The link below shows my English Springer Spaniel with birds and two hunters that I do not know. All the best...

Had a brother in law (now ex brother in law) once upon a time that would expend 250-500 shells duck or bird hunting... he averaged a bird or so... Once I took him quail hunting. I bagged 8 quail 2 rabbit and 1 squirrel in 12 shots. He wouldn't hunt with me ever again....
