Pheasant loads
I have a 12gauge, 28" barrel, modefied choke. What size shot and shell length do most of you shoot?

I use 2-3/4 no.6's early and may go to no.5's later in the season, depending on the birds.

Most of the time I use 2 3/4" 4 or 5 shot, for windy days I like to use 3" 4 shot.

I load 1 1/2 oz of #5 shot in a 2 3/4 inch AA hull over some 571.

I will place AA hulls loaded up with #5's in my model 1100 Remingtons for pheasant, as it seems they both like that particular load when I patterned them out before the hunt.
Now my O/U shotguns usually get a taste of #6's in the first barrel, followed by a #4 in the second barrel. I have found this to be a very combination when hunting those running type birds in the field.

I used to use the #6 but over the years I have gone to the 5's and 4's in the 2 3/4 shell is more then enough.
