Need a muley spot to hunt in 2005...
I am looking for a outfitter, guide, landowner, etc to either take me mule deer hunting or open the gate for me for a tresspass fee. Not necessarily looking for a monster but a nice representitive. any ideas. Note: I would rather someone open the gate for me and leave me to do it on my own. (I used to guide in alaksa - so I can probally handle myself without a babysitter). Rifle or Bow (but rifle would be better.)

I think your going to have to put some time in on this site before anyone will trust you enough to open up a gate for you. People who post often develope a profile that we can use to determine character. Not slamming you, just my take on this site.

I tend to agree, hang around let folks get to know you. . . . might also be nice to know where you are looking to hunt mule deer at. Could be anywhere from mexico to canada under them terms. . . .
If you really did use to guide (no offense but people claim all kinds of things) then you should do purty well. Mainly we are a laid back and relaxed family board, welcome btw. GoodOlBoy

Welcome aboard and good advice.
I saw this same post on another board as well. You got a response from a really good guide in Wyoming. If you wanna hunt on your own, you would be better off talkin to some of these guys here a bit and telling a litlle more about yourself. You may wanna try making some friends and talking about yourself. Especially here. Lots of folks here with lots of resources. Good Luck Andy Last edited by Andy L; 01-31-2005 at 02:56 PM. |

There's two I'd think of off the bat.
#1 Dal Outfitters who's a Sponsor here. I had an opportunity to hunt with them and saw several nice muley bucks including one over 30" that stood there only 30 yards away. This is fully guided #2 JML Outfitters, a new acquaintance of mine who specializes in drop camps in the Flat Tops of Colorado. This would be more of a do it yourself hunt where they pack you in 3 miles and you hunt on your own. Of course the price is much more reasonable. She's in Unit 24 about 30 miles East of Meeker, CO. I have brochures, but if you want more info just call Marie at 970-878-4749 and tell her Petey from huntchat.com sent you.
