When is your next elk hunt ?

License draw time in many states, who all has an application in and where are you going this fall ?

I'm sitting out 2005 because I coudn't talk any of my buddies into a cow hunt, but have booked a hunt in 2006 and if the drawing goes well I plan on hunting bulls in Wyoming.

Kind of looking into Montana this year. I guess I don't have too much longer to make up my mind.

I think their deadline is the 14th or so of next month.

I have a Turkey Hunt in IL and a bear hunt in QC, Canada already planned.

If I make the Montana deal the wife and kids are coming along... might even invite ol_spark on this one again I need another good packer! ha ha

Going to Idaho for the first time. Combo hunt in the Clearwater area. Said he gets 5x5's pretty regularly (what ever that means) and has great whitetails. A hunting buddy from NY been wanting to try this guy for awhile. Price is right for a 5 day and can stay 7 if we need. Just 3 of us in camp that week. I did ask about that big 6x6 across that canyon he see every year. He said I haven't had anybody that can shoot 650+. What a gift I may get. There was reason for that new barrel being ordered!!!
Going the last week of Oct into Nov hoping to catch the whitetail moving and have some snow up top to push the elk down.
Have killed a 6x6 in Wy. Laramie range. Just hard to draw a tag in Wy. That 9985' elev. is tough and I ain't getting younger.
Looking forward to a new place to hunt. Said we should be in that 6k to 8k range.

Sorry for the long reply to your post referencing mine. Been away from the boards for awhile. That '6k to 8k' was meant to be in elevation feet not dollars. Sorry for the confusion. I'm in an accounting position now and just habit when referencing thousands to use the 'k' symbol.
The hunt is in the Clearwater area and to other areas if we need to go elswhere to get animals he tells us.
This combo hunt is actually cheap compared to other elk/deer combos I've seen.
Just got a phone call last night, my newly re-barreled action is ready for pick-up. Finally cooling off alittle here in PA. Want to get that barrel broke in at least. Move to the long range stuff when temp's are more bearable. ( yea, like thats going to happen in July!)
Hope the farmer is ok with 5:30 am shots. Better check first.

Dan, when I draw a tag I keep it in a locked fireproof safe next to the deed for the house. I don't take it out til the truck is loaded for the hunt. Hope it's a great one for you, I'm sure it will be.
