Franchi 912 vs Winchester SX2

I went to lay away a SX2 today and the guy asked me if I had looked at a Franchi 912. I had not seen one before and I had only heard of them on the web. I dont know anyone who has one.

He said they were both great guns but the Franchi used the rotating bolt like the Benneli/ Beretta, has an adjustable gas system and an adjustable shims in the stock. He said those things gave the Franchi a little advantage. The SX2 is $700 in black composite the Franchi is about $760 in camo. I like the feel of both. The action on the Franchi looks a lot better finished very smooth no rough spots. The SX2 you can see machine marks and what not in the reciever and the action feels rougher.

He is holding both of them until Monday then I have to choose one.

Any commemts or recommendations?

I have the Benelli SBE and several Beretta autos that use the shim kit. I can tell you that out of the box, the guns didn't fit me well, but after adjusting them they fit me fine. The first one I bought, the SBE felt great when I shouldered it at the store, but I bought the 28" barrel gun which was in the back in a box. Imgaine my surprise when I got it home, put it together, and it felt like crap. Luckily, I figured out the shim kit. I like the Beretta autos for the same reason and have all of them set up the same way. They all feel great when I mount them.

The rotating bolt on the Benelli, Beretta Extrema, and Franchi acts kind of like the bolt on a rifle and it helps with the ejection of the spent shell.

I love Beretta and Benelli, but I have yet to shoot a Franchi. I would assume that it is almost, if not just, as good as the Beretta and Benelli, especially since Franchi is owned by Benelli and Benelli is owned by Beretta.
