I've seen it in person and I've seen it hundreds of times on the TV; I will never understand why they won't follow the orders to put their weapons down.

I know that distance on video is deceptive as are other visual aspects. But I consider that guy blessed that the police didn't shoot him when he had that one officer backpeddling to stay away from him. Those officers showed great self control in the situation. I don't know if I could have done the same.

Like a lot of knuckleheads, that guy needed a good shootin'. The way he went towards that officer, he should have been a dead man. I like how they gave him "the squeeeeeze" with that parking meter, that changed his tune a bit!

TBO,

Haven't read one of your threads in a while, but when I saw that this one had video, I just had to check it out.

Very good police work, I just wish the guy driving the car had been going a little faster. That perp was an idiot and I am truly surprised that he wasn't shot. However, I am glad that he wasn't shot and I think this ended the best way possible.

He brought a knife to a gun fight. He got off lucky but I bet he sues because they used a car against him instead of shooting him.

Come on guys, give us attorneys some credit. However, as of late, I am debating whether or not it is deserved. Some attorney that I am dealing with appears to be pathetic, but charges the poor people a hefty sum to represent them in criminal matters, doesn't require the full payment before representing them, and then sues them afterward. In my case, they guy had my client sign a client/attorney agreement, but he wasn't representing my client, just wanted my client to foot the bill for my client's cousin. My client signed the document thinking that it was something else, and he was sued by the attorney. The attorney seems to be a real piece of work and the document he drafted was terrible. This one is going to get good. He is one of the bad apples that makes my profession look bad.

It's about "people", not "attorneys". There is no shortage of people w/o moral fiber, and some just happen to be an attorney, like the fellow you mentioned. With the incident I posted getting played in the media, someone watching a TV somewhere w/the ability to practice law is looking forward to suing deep pockets. Just the way it is (in today's world). It's a statement about "people", more so than "profession".

I agree on people vs laywer.

As to the meter maid in the video - if ther ever was a case for either a tazer or bean bag gun that was it IMO. I know tazers have gotten bad press but it isn't the tazer's fault - its they guy using it. I dunno how one woulda worked thru all the clothes but a bean bag gun to teh stomach woulda take the wind out pretty good and if he still wanted to fight - give him the full magazines worth.

Teal,

I agree with the use of the beanbag gun. I think they were using rubber bullets here in PG County at one point, but they might have been taken away.

I also agree that the problem is with people. The other day I was thinking to myself that I truely hate people in general, but there are some exceptional ones out there. It is just a matter of staying clear of the others. Problem is, in my profession that is kind of tough.
